Dry Skin: frequently asked questions
- Why is my newborn's skin peeling?
- Normal. Newborn skin sheds in the first weeks after a long swim in amniotic fluid. Mild moisturizer once a day if the skin looks tight or red; otherwise leave it alone.
- Lotion or ointment?
- Lotion for general moisturizing. Ointment, like Aquaphor, for dry patches or right after a bath while the skin is still damp.
